Former US president Donald Trump has taken an unexpected step into the world of fashion by launching his own line of shoes, following a court ruling that awarded him $355 million in damages from a defamation lawsuit.

The shoes, which bear the Trump name and logo, are said to be made of high-quality leather and feature a variety of styles and colors. Trump said he was inspired to create the shoes after winning a legal battle against the New York Times, which he accused of publishing false and malicious stories about his business dealings.

The brand name is Trump Sneakers. The launch took place at Sneaker Con, a renowned gathering known as the “The Greatest Sneaker Show on Earth” at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The Never Surrender High-Tops are gold lame high-top sneakers adorned with an American flag detail on the back.
These exclusive kicks are priced at $399. A new website, unrelated to Trump’s campaign, is selling these shoes along with Trump-branded Victory47 cologne and perfume. Trump sued the New York Times in 2019, claiming that the newspaper had defamed him by publishing an opinion piece that alleged he had engaged in tax fraud and other illegal activities.
The piece, written by former executive editor Max Frankel, argued that Trump had a secret deal with Russia to help him win the 2016 election. The lawsuit was initially dismissed by a lower court, but Trump appealed the decision and won in the Supreme Court last month.

The court ruled that the New York Times had acted with actual malice and reckless disregard for the truth, and ordered the newspaper to pay Trump $355 million in compensatory and punitive damages. The New York Times said it was “deeply disappointed” by the ruling and vowed to continue to hold Trump accountable for his actions.
The Supreme Court has effectively given Trump a license to sue anyone who criticizes him or exposes his wrongdoing,” the newspaper said in an editorial. Trump said he plans to use some of the money from the lawsuit to fund his political comeback, as he has hinted at running for president again in 2024.
Trump also said he hopes his shoes will inspire his supporters and fans to follow his example and pursue their dreams. Despite the recent legal setbacks, Trump’s appearance at Sneaker Con was met with both boos and chants of “USA!” from the crowd.

The diverse audience younger than his usual rally attendees, witnessed Trump showcasing the golden shoes. The room was filled with emotion, occasionally accompanied by the scent of weed.
Whether these sneakers become a political statement or a collector’s item, they certainly add a touch of flair to the world of footwear. After all, who wouldn’t want to walk in the footsteps of a former president, especially when those footsteps are clad in gold?
