Actress Anne Ramsey-Mobley was from the United States. Her most well-known roles were as Mama Fratelli in The Goonies and as Mrs. Lift in Throw Momma from the Train, the latter of which brought her nominations for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award.

Ramsey started a lucrative Hollywood career in the 1970s playing character parts in TV shows including Ironside, Three’s Company, Wonder Woman, and Little House on the Prairie.
Ramsey had part of her tongue and jaw removed following surgery for esophageal cancer in 1984, which contributed to her somewhat slurred speech, which became a defining feature of her later performances.
She passed away at Woodland Hills’ Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital on August 11.

Ramsey was born in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Eleanor, the former national treasurer of the Girl Scouts of the USA, and Nathan Mobley, an insurance executive.

Her mother was a descendant of the Pilgrims (William Brewster), and her uncle was U.S. Ambassador David S. Smith. Ramsey was raised in Great Neck, New York, and Greenwich, Connecticut.
She attended the prestigious Rosemary Hall in Greenwich, CT, and matriculated at Bennington College where she became interested in theatre.
She performed in several Broadway productions in the 1950s and married actor Logan Ramsey in 1954. They moved to Philadelphia where they formed the Theatre of the Living Arts

Ramsey was 59 years old. The actress died at 6:05 P.M. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she had been for about a week, said a hospital spokeswoman, Peggy Shaff.
