While Holtmann found solace in sketching basketball plays during meetings, Lori, who was among the hall directors, initially found this distraction a bit bothersome. However, what started as a minor annoyance soon blossomed into something beautiful.
Despite having never witnessed a college basketball game before dating Holtmann, Lori’s first date with him took place at a sports bar in Muncie, Ind., where they watched a game together. Over time, Lori’s enthusiasm for basketball grew, and she embraced the sport alongside her husband.

Their journey as a couple reached a significant milestone when they exchanged vows on September 11, 1999, a date Lori humorously describes as “the worst anniversary in the world.” Despite the unconventional timing, their bond continued to flourish, strengthened by their shared experiences and mutual support.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Nora Jane, into the world on May 19, 2010. While basketball remains a prominent aspect of their lives, Lori envisions Nora Jane pursuing interests beyond the court, foreseeing her as more inclined towards music or art.
Navigating the demands of a life intertwined with basketball, Lori acknowledges the unique challenges of being a coach’s wife. Despite the unconventional schedule and lifestyle, she embraces the adventure it brings, recognizing that the journey with Holtmann is one filled with excitement and fulfillment.
