One of the main antagonists of the film is Jonas Miller, a rival storm chaser who stole the idea for the device from the protagonists, Bill and Jo Harding. Jonas is portrayed by Cary Elwes, who is known for his roles in The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Saw.

Jonas is arrogant, greedy, and reckless, and he does not care about the safety of his team or the people affected by the tornadoes. He only wants to beat Bill and Jo to the punch and get fame and glory for himself. He also has corporate funding and a sleek black van, which contrasts with the rag-tag and colorful vehicles of Bill and Jo’s team.
Jonas meets his demise when he ignores Bill’s warning about an F5 tornado that is heading his way. He tries to outrun the storm, but his van is lifted off the ground and thrown into the path of another tornado, killing him and his driver. His death is seen as a poetic justice for his betrayal and selfishness.
