Born from humble beginnings, his journey began with a gas station in Los Angeles before branching out into managing a Firestone store and even trying his hand at goat farming.
However, it was a fortuitous encounter with the tale of John Goffe’s Mill in 1968 that ignited his fervor for whole grains.
In 1974, alongside his wife Charlee and their two sons, Bob embarked on a mission to bring the goodness of whole grains to the masses by founding Moores’ Flour Mill, later rebranded as Bob’s Red Mill.

What started as a modest operation grinding wheat flour with traditional millstones soon blossomed into a global enterprise offering a diverse range of grains, seeds, and baking mixes.
Yet, Bob’s impact extends beyond the realm of commerce. Alongside Charlee, renowned for their philanthropy and dedication to health and sustainability, they established the Moore Institute, championing health research and promoting wholesome eating habits.
With Bob’s passing in 2024, his indomitable spirit lives on through his thriving company and the enduring legacy of his passion for natural foods.
