The helicopter involved in the crash was identified as a Eurocopter EC 130 and was carrying six individuals at the time of the incident. This tragedy follows closely on the heels of another helicopter crash just days prior, in which a Navy chopper carrying five troops crashed during a routine training flight in Pine Valley, California.

Authorities from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department were alerted to the downed aircraft near Baker shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday. Despite search efforts, no survivors have been located thus far.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the crash near Nipton, located on the edge of the Mojave Desert Preserve, east of the 15 Freeway near Halloran Springs. The helicopter involved in the crash is registered to a Burbank-based tour company called Orbic Air, as reported by NBC.

As investigations into the cause of the crash continue, the tragic loss of Herbert Wigwe and the other individuals onboard serves as a solemn reminder of the risks associated with air travel and the importance of safety measures in aviation.
