His crowning moments came at the Summer Olympics, where he clinched gold medals in 1984 and 1988, followed by a bronze in 1992. Notably, Timmons was honoured as the MVP of the 1984 Olympics by the International Volleyball Federation, cementing his status as one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Teaming up with volleyball legend Karch Kiraly, Timmons formed a formidable duo, leading the national team to victory at prestigious events like the FIVB World Cup, FIVB World Championship, and the Pan American Games, securing gold medals in each competition.
Beyond the Olympics, Timmons showcased his skills in the Italian Volleyball League, where he played alongside Kiraly for Porto Ravenna Volley. Their partnership bore fruit with division and Champions League titles in 1991 and 1992, respectively, adding more silverware to Timmons’ illustrious career.
Transitioning to beach volleyball, Timmons continued to excel, demonstrating his versatility and adaptability in a different format. His partnership with Kiraly yielded success, culminating in a tournament victory in Enoshima, Japan, in 1989.
