Vance Rodriguez, known as “Mostly Harmless,” was born in Louisiana in 1976, to Rose Gaudet Rodriguez and Lawrence J. Rodriguez Sr.

Little is known about his early years, except that he had siblings, including a twin.
His journey gained attention in 2017 when he set out on a solo hike along the Appalachian Trail, adopting the trail name “Mostly Harmless.”
During his hike, he shared stories with fellow travelers and expressed a desire to reach Key West, where he mentioned having family. Sadly, in July 2018, his remains were discovered in Big Cypress National Preserve, sparking a two-year search for his identity.
