However, fans have often wondered about the reason behind her distinctive style of covering one of her eyes while performing.

The mystery behind Gabrielle’s eye covering is rooted in a medical condition she has endured since childhood known as ptosis.

This condition causes the eyelid to partially close, droop, or fall, leading to a noticeable difference in appearance.

Throughout the 1990s, Gabrielle used various methods to conceal her affected eye during performances, including sunglasses or an eyepatch.

However, in more recent years, she has adopted a different approach, opting to style her hair in a manner that effectively obscures the eye from view.

Despite undergoing surgery to address the condition, Gabrielle was left with a shortened eyelid, prompting her to continue covering her eye as a means of comfort and self-assurance.

The singer has been candid about her struggles, revealing that she battled depression and experienced moments of profound despair during her school years.

In a revealing interview with The Guardian in 2018, Gabrielle expressed her reluctance to publicly reveal her eye, likening the experience to feeling exposed and vulnerable.

She emphasized the deeply personal nature of her decision, likening the act of concealing her eye to wearing a “comfort blanket” that brings her a sense of happiness and security.
