Is Mars Hill University related to Mars Hill Church?

Mars Hill University and Mars Hill Church share more than just a name, but their historical ties don’t bind them today.

Established in 1856 as the French Broad Baptist Institute, Mars Hill University has evolved independently over the years. It officially adopted the name “Mars Hill College” in 1905, nodding to the hill in Athens where the Apostle Paul debated.
