In light of this, Oscar and two-time Tony Award nominee Amy Ryan has been selected to assume the role of Sister Aloysius in the Scott Ellis-directed production, as announced by the Roundabout Theatre Company on Tuesday.

The company stated, “Ms. Daly was unexpectedly hospitalized on Friday and regrettably needs to step away from the production while she undergoes medical treatment.”
While no specific reason was disclosed for Daly’s hospitalization, Roundabout expressed optimism about the 77-year-old “Cagney & Lacey” star’s full recovery.

Originally slated to commence previews on Friday, John Patrick Shanley’s Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play postponed its first performance to Saturday following Daly’s hospitalization.
Isabel Keating, the understudy, filled Daly’s shoes over the weekend and will continue performing until Feb. 11. Ryan is set to debut in the role on Feb. 13.
Scott Ellis remarked, “With respect and admiration for Tyne, we wish her a speedy recovery. We are thankful that Amy Ryan swiftly accepted our invitation to join the cast and tackle the role of ‘Sister Aloysius.’ We extend our deep appreciation to Isabel Keating, who admirably stepped in with only a day of rehearsal, allowing us to proceed with the production during this initial week of performances.”
Ryan, known for her roles in “Gone Baby Gone” and TV series such as “The Office” and “The Wire,” last appeared on Broadway in the 2005 production of Tennessee Williams’ “A Streetcar Named Desire.”
