During his stints with Cardiff, Semi was loaned to AFC Wimbledon (2015), Crewe Alexandra (2015–2016), and Rotherham United (2017).
Rotherham then signed Semi on a permanent deal on March 28, 2017.
On July 20, 2019, Ajayi signed for West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee, agreeing a four-year contract with the club.
