Dan Quinn, currently the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, is no stranger to the responsibilities of leading an NFL team.

This marks his second head-coaching opportunity, having previously served as the head coach for the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020.

During his six seasons with the Falcons, Quinn achieved a record of 43-42, with a notable playoff record of 3-2. However, his time in Atlanta is often remembered for the unforgettable loss in Super Bowl LI, where the Falcons squandered a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots.

Quinn’s tenure with the Dallas Cowboys has been marked by significant success on the defensive front. In his first year as defensive coordinator, he orchestrated a remarkable turnaround, propelling the Cowboys from 28th in points allowed in 2020 to an impressive seventh in 2021.

Notably, the Cowboys led the league in interceptions during Quinn’s inaugural campaign, with standout performances from rookies Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs, both earning All-Pro honors.

In the subsequent regular seasons under Quinn’s guidance, the Cowboys maintained their defensive prowess, ranking fifth in points allowed in both 2022 and 2023.

With this move, Quinn joins forces with Commanders general manager Adam Peters and the team’s new owner, Josh Harris, as they aim to usher in a new era for the Washington franchise.

The departure of Ron Rivera, the previous head coach, paved the way for this transition, with Quinn now taking the helm to guide the team toward future success.

Rivera, who had a four-season stint with Washington, failed to produce a winning record during his tenure, leading to his dismissal in January.

The Commanders hope that the arrival of Dan Quinn will bring renewed energy and success to the team as they navigate the challenges of the NFL.
