Neuralink is a company co-founded by Elon Musk that aims to create a brain-computer interface (BCI) that can help people with neurological disorders and enhance human capabilities. According to Musk, Neuralink has implanted its first device into humans and hopes to achieve a sort of symbiosis with artificial intelligence.

The device is a small chip that is inserted into the skull by a surgical robot. It has tiny wires that connect to the brain and can record and stimulate neural activity. The device can communicate wirelessly with a computer or smartphone and allow the user to control external devices with their thoughts.

Neuralink’s first human trial will test the safety and feasibility of the device in patients with quadriplegia due to spinal cord injury or ALS. The goal is to enable them to use a keyboard or computer cursor with their minds. Neuralink says its device can also help people with other conditions such as stroke, brain injury, blindness, deafness, and memory loss.
Neuralink’s technology is not new, but it claims to have made significant improvements over existing BCI devices in terms of safety, bandwidth, and scalability. Neuralink faces many challenges and uncertainties, such as ethical, regulatory, and social issues, as well as technical hurdles and competition from other researchers and companies.
