Throughout his illustrious career, Gill donned the Indian jersey with pride, gracing tournaments like the Hockey World Cup in Kuala Lumpur and the FIH Champions Trophy in Cologne, Germany, both in 2002. His versatility as a midfielder, adept in both defense and offense, set him apart.

However, adversity struck in 2006 when Gill faced a daunting diagnosis of a brain tumor, prompting his premature retirement.

Despite this setback, his love for the game endured. Gill’s legacy extended beyond the field; he established a hockey academy and organized tournaments, ensuring the sport thrived in Chandigarh.

Tragically, on January 26, 2024, Gill passed away at the age of 48, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and passion for hockey.
