Cindy Sherman was married to Michel Auder from the early 1980s until the late 1990s. They have a daughter together named Alexandra. She was also in a relationship with Paul Hasegawa-Overacker in the 1990s.

Cindy Sherman is an American artist best known for her disguised photographic self-portraits, depicting herself in many different contexts directed towards social role-playing and sexual stereotypes.

Cynthia Morris Sherman was born on January 19, 1954, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, in the United States of America. Following her graduation from SUNY in 1976, Cindy Sherman began work on Untitled Film Stills (1977–80), one of her best-known series.

In 1994, Cindy Sherman produced the Post Card Series for Comme des Garçons for the brand’s autumn/winter 1994–95 collections in collaboration with Rei Kawakubo. Sherman’s initial individual exhibition in New York debuted at The Kitchen, a noncommercial venue, in 1980.
Apart from various group exhibitions, Sherman’s artwork has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (1982), Whitney Museum of American Art in New York (1987), Kunsthalle Basel (1991), Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. (1995), the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (1998), the Serpentine Gallery in London and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (2003), and Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin (2007), among others.
