The cause of his death was reported as heart failure. Farrell passed away in his hotel room in St. Petersburg, Russia, marking the end of his illustrious career as a dancer and singer.

According to his agent, John Seine, Farrell had been experiencing breathing difficulties after a performance with his band the night before his death. This health concern was significant enough for Farrell to voice his discomfort to Seine. Tragically, the situation escalated, leading to Farrell’s passing.

Hotel staff discovered Bobby Farrell’s lifeless body after he failed to respond to an alarm call. The circumstances surrounding his death were especially eerie due to the coincidence that he passed away on the same date and in the same city—St. Petersburg—as Grigori Rasputin, a historical figure featured prominently in one of Boney M.’s most iconic songs.

Farrell had even portrayed Rasputin in some of the group’s live performances. Following his death, Bobby Farrell was laid to rest at Zorgvlied cemetery in Amsterdam, leaving behind a legacy of dance and music that had captivated audiences around the world.
