The Ram Mandir is a Hindu temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located at the site believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama, the hero of Ramayana regarded as an incarnation of God Vishnu by the Hindus.

Why is Ram a Hindu god?
Rama is also considered a god or deity since he is an avatar of Vishnu. Vishnu is one of the most important gods in the Hindu religion, and depending on which sect people follow, he may be considered the supreme god. In Vaishnavism, Vishnu is the supreme god, and his avatars (or incarnations) are worshiped.

Major Hindu festivals like Dussehra and Diwali are associated with mythological tales of Ram extolling the virtues of truth, sacrifice, and ethical governance. As a person, Rama personifies the characteristics of an ideal person (Purushottama).
He had within him all the desirable virtues that any individual would seek to aspire to, and he fulfilled all his moral obligations. Rama is considered a maryada purushottama or the best of upholders of Dharma.
