Yes, Giada De Laurentiis is a trained chef. Following her graduation from Marymount High School in Los Angeles, Giada De Laurentiis went on to pursue her bachelor’s degree in social anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles, which she completed in 1996.

De Laurentiis attended Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, to pursue a career as a pastry chef. Upon her return to the US, she embarked on a professional culinary journey, working in various Los Angeles eateries, including Spago, which was owned by Wolfgang Puck.

Giada De Laurentiis ventured into food styling and caught the attention of the Food Network after styling a feature in Food & Wine magazine in 2002. She has also authored several cookbooks and founded the catering business GDL Foods.
Giada De Laurentiis’ daytime cooking show on the Food Network, Everyday Italian, premiered on April 5, 2003. De Laurentiis also started hosting Behind the Bash in October 2005.
Later in June 2007, Giada De Laurentiis hosted a two-part Food Network special entitled Giada in Paradise, featuring the two locales of Santorini, Greece, and Capri, Italy.
