Damon Albarn was in a long-term relationship with Suzi Winstanley, an artist and social media celebrity, for over 25 years. Damon Albarn co-founded the non-profit musical organization Africa Express.

Albarn also scored the stage productions Monkey: Journey to the West (2008), Dr. Dee (2012), and Wonder.land (2016). Albarn’s debut solo album, Everyday Robots, was released in 2014.
In 2008, The Daily Telegraph named Damon Albarn the 18th most powerful person in British culture. In 2020, Albarn was granted Icelandic citizenship.

In 2016, Damon Albarn received the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors. In 2014, Albarn contributed the song “Sister Rust” to the soundtrack of the science fiction film Lucy.
Damon Albarn was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to music. Albarn recorded the film score for the film version of the book The Boy in the Oak.
Damon Albarn was also featured in Gunar Karlsson’s 2007 film, Anna and the Moods, and later played “Bull” in Joe Orton’s radio play Up Against It.
