Pauly Shore Parents: Meet Mitzi Shore, Sammy Shore

Born as Paul Montgomery Shore, he is the son of Sammy Shore and Mitzi Shore, both influential figures in the world of entertainment. Sammy Shore, Paul Shore’s father, was a renowned comedian, recognized for his contributions to the comedy scene.

He left a lasting impact through his appearances on notable platforms such as “The Ed Sullivan Show” and the classic sitcom “Sanford and Son.” Sammy Shore’s comedic prowess extended to the big screen, where he appeared in films like “The Bellboy” alongside Jerry Lewis and had roles in Mel Brooks’ “Life Stinks” and “History of the World Part 1.”

Mitzi Shore, Paul Shore’s mother, played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of comedy. Alongside Rudy De Luca, Mitzi and Sammy co-founded The Comedy Store, an iconic venue that became a breeding ground for emerging comedic talent. The Comedy Store remains a legendary establishment in the world of stand-up comedy.

Following the divorce of Sammy and Mitzi Shore, Mitzi took over ownership and operation of The Comedy Store as part of the divorce settlement. The venue continued to thrive under her leadership, fostering the careers of numerous comedians.

Tragically, both of Paul Shore’s parents have passed away. Sammy Shore, the comedic patriarch, died in Las Vegas, Nevada, of natural causes at the age of 92.

On April 11, 2018, Mitzi Shore, the matriarch of comedy, succumbed to an undisclosed neurological disorder at a hospice in West Hollywood, California. Her later years were marked by a battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Paul Shore was raised in the rich comedic heritage of his family, growing up in Beverly Hills, California. He graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1986, carrying forward the legacy of humor and entertainment instilled by his parents.

The Shores’ contributions to the comedy world continue to be celebrated, with their influence evident in the enduring legacy of The Comedy Store and the comedic talent nurtured within its walls.
