Lux Pascal, formerly known as Lucas Balmaceda, entered the world in California to Chilean parents José Balmaceda and Verónica Pascal. The roots of her family tree are entwined with the complex political history of Chile. Following the 1973 coup, Lux’s parents faced exile due to her mother’s connection to Andrés Pascal Allende, a leader of the Chilean Revolutionary Left Movement. Lux is the youngest of four siblings, including the well-known actor Pedro Pascal.

Lux’s childhood saw a return to Chile at the age of three, where she attended Saint George’s College. Her journey into the world of acting began in 2010 when she started studying theater at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. This passion for the craft led her to the prestigious Juilliard School, where she graduated in May 2023 with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in acting.

In a powerful declaration of self-discovery and authenticity, Lux Pascal publicly revealed her transgender identity in February 2021, adopting the name Lux to honor her maternal surname.
