Sumit Nagal is an Indian professional tennis player. Born on August 16, 1997, in Jhajjar, Haryana, Sumit Nagal has emerged as a prominent figure in Indian professional tennis.

Behind his dedication, resilience, and success on the court lies the unwavering support of his parents, Suresh Nagal and Krishna Devi Nagal.

Suresh Nagal, a school teacher, and Krishna Devi Nagal, a homemaker, provided the foundational support that allowed their son to flourish in the world of tennis.

It was under their watchful eyes and encouragement that Sumit Nagal first picked up a tennis racket at the age of eight, marking the beginning of a journey that would take him to the pinnacle of the sport.

At the tender age of ten, Sumit Nagal’s talent caught the attention of tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi, who selected him to be part of the first batch of the Apollo Tyres Mission 2018 program.

This marked a significant turning point in Nagal’s career as he became part of Bhupathi’s prestigious training academy. From 2008 to 2010, Nagal honed his skills in Bangalore, showcasing his commitment to the sport.

After the closure of the Mission 2018 program, Sumit Nagal made a strategic move to Toronto for further training under the guidance of Coach Bobby Mahal. This decision underscored his determination to elevate his game and compete at the highest level of professional tennis.

One of the standout moments in Sumit Nagal’s career came in 2015 when he secured the Wimbledon boys’ doubles title alongside his Vietnamese partner, Lý Hoàng Nam. This achievement not only brought glory to Nagal but also made him the sixth Indian player to win a junior Grand Slam title.

Presently holding the title of the highest-ranked Indian singles tennis player, Sumit Nagal has been a valuable asset to India’s national Davis Cup squad since 2018. His contributions have not only brought pride to the nation but have also inspired aspiring tennis players across the country.
