The announcement sent shockwaves through the football community, leaving fans and teammates mourning the untimely loss of a talented athlete. Junior Galette took to social media to convey the sad news, but as of now, the cause of Ronald Powell’s death has not been disclosed.
The sudden departure of a young and promising talent like Powell has left many grappling with the impact of his absence from the football fraternity.
Powell’s football journey began at the University of Florida, where he showcased his skills from 2010 to 2013. He played during the transition from Urban Meyer’s tenure to Will Muschamp’s early years.
Opting to forego his remaining college eligibility, Powell entered the professional realm when the New Orleans Saints selected him in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft with the 169th pick.

During his rookie season in 2014, Powell made his mark by playing 14 games for the Saints. However, the following season posed challenges, and he was waived ahead of the 2015 season, only to rejoin the team later.
Powell’s professional journey also included stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears, and Seattle Seahawks between 2015 and 2016.
In the midst of his NFL career, Powell found himself on the roster of the Alliance of American Football’s Orlando Apollos in 2018, set to play in the 2019 season. Unfortunately, the AAF’s abrupt cessation of operations in April 2019 marked the end of Powell’s professional football endeavors.
The passing of Ronald Powell not only leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him but also serves as a reminder of the fragility of life, even for those who seem invincible on the football field.
