US Air Force officer crowned as 2024 Miss America

Madison Marsh, a 22-year-old second lieutenant in the US Air Force and master’s student at the Harvard Kennedy School’s public policy program, was crowned the 2024 Miss America on Sunday night in Orlando, Florida.

Marsh is the first active-duty Air Force officer ever to receive the national title. Marsh, who represented the state of Colorado, competed against 50 other contestants from all 50 US states and the District of Columbia.

She emerged victorious after three nights of preliminary competitions, where she was chosen as one of the 11 semi-finalists. The final event consisted of four rounds of competition: a fitness showcase, a “hot topics” discussion round, a talent performance, and an evening gown presentation.

Marsh was followed in the final rankings by Ellie Breaux of Texas, Cydney Bridges of Indiana, Mallory Hudson of Kentucky, and Caroline Parente of Rhode Island, respectively.
