Bill Pullman is the father of Lewis Pullman.

William Pullman known professionally as Bill Pullman is an American actor.

Born on December 17, 1953, in Hornell, New York, Bill Pullman is the son of Dr. James Pullman Jr., a physician, and Johanna Wilamina Pullman, a nurse.

His formative years were spent in Hornell, where he completed his high school education at Hornell High School in 1971.

Bill then pursued his passion for theater, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Studies from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 1975.

Determined to further hone his craft, Bill went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1980.

His journey into the world of academia took him to SUNY Delhi, where he taught theater, and later to Montana State University’s School of Film and Photography in Bozeman, Montana, where he assumed the role of a professor.

Bill’s journey into acting was not a direct one. While teaching at Montana State University, he felt the pull of the stage and decided to pursue a career in acting.

This decision marked a significant turning point in his life, leading to his film debut in the 1986 comedy “Ruthless People.”

His early notable film roles include “Spaceballs” (1987), “The Accidental Tourist” (1988), “Independence Day” (1996), “Lost Highway” (1997), and “Lake Placid” (1999).

In addition to his film success, Bill has made frequent television appearances, showcasing his talent in TV films, miniseries, and regular series.

Noteworthy mentions include his roles in “Torchwood” (2011), starring roles in “1600 Penn” (2012–13), and “The Sinner” (2017–2021). In 2021, he took on a recurring role in the miniseries “Halston.”

Bill has been happily married to modern dancer Tamara Hurwitz since 1987. The couple shares three children, including Lewis Pullman.
