Theodore Blunt was an American politician, educator, and athlete. Blunt’s political career in Delaware spanned 16 years on the Wilmington District Council and eight years as the city council president. He was the father of Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester.

Blunt’s athletic accomplishments in high school included making All Public Teams in basketball and soccer, as well as being named the Markward Club’s Public League’s Most Valuable Player in Basketball his senior season.
Blunt has provided WSSU with both time and financial support over the years. In 2010, Blunt fully returned to his alma mater for his four-year scholarship, in keeping with his commitment to education and giving back.

Blunt is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice, brother, John who was a longtime anchor at NBC10, sister, Catherine, three daughters, Lisa, Thea, and Marla, two sons-in-law, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
In total, Ted has 3 children, all daughters. His daughter, Lisa Blunt Rochester, was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2016.
