In 2001, Steiner transitioned to Formula One when he became the Team Principal of Jaguar Racing. Despite challenges, including a restructuring period, Steiner’s tenure at Jaguar showcased his ability to reorganize teams and reduce costs. Although he left Jaguar in 2003, his impact on the engineering baseline set the stage for future successes.

Steiner joined Red Bull Racing in 2005 as the technical operations director. Alongside team principal Christian Horner, he played a pivotal role in improving the team’s performance during the 2005 season. Steiner’s journey with Red Bull Racing also involved a move to the United States, where he served as Team Red Bull’s technical director from 2006 to 2008, contributing to the establishment of a NASCAR team.
After leaving Red Bull, Steiner founded the manufacturing company Fibreworks Composites in 2009. His path then led him to meet Joe Custer and Gene Haas of Stewart-Haas Racing. Steiner’s proposal to enter Formula One resulted in the establishment of the Haas F1 Team in 2014. Under Steiner’s leadership, Haas became the first American constructor to compete in F1 in 30 years, making a notable impact in their debut season in 2016.
