The book follows the investigation of the crimes by the FBI and reveals the shocking conspiracy behind them. One of the main characters in the book is Mollie Burkhart, an Osage woman who lost most of her family to the killers. Her sister Anna Brown was one of the first victims, found shot in the head in a ravine.

The book reveals that Anna was killed by her cousin and lover, Bryan Burkhart, who was hired by his uncle William Hale, a powerful cattleman who wanted to inherit the Osage headrights. Hale was also behind the deaths of Mollie’s mother, Lizzie, who was poisoned, and her sister Rita, and brother-in-law Bill Smith, who were blown up in their house.

Hale was eventually convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for his crimes, but many other murders remained unsolved. Killers of the Flower Moon is a gripping and tragic book that exposes the dark history of racism, greed, and violence in America.
