According to the latest statistics, there were about 39.4 thousand registered foreigners in Busan in 2021. This is a slight decrease from the previous year when there were about 40.4 thousand foreigners.

Compared to the total population of registered foreigners in South Korea, which was about 1.1 million in 2021, Busan has a relatively small share of foreign residents.

Most of the foreigners in Busan are from China, Japan, Vietnam, and the United States. They work in various sectors, such as trade, tourism, education, and manufacturing. Some of them are also students or spouses of Korean nationals.

Busan also attracts hundreds of foreign teachers every year, who come to teach English at private and public schools. There is a fairly large foreign community in Busan, where expats can enjoy the city’s culture, cuisine, and scenery.
