Cirrhosis is a late stage of scarring (fibrosis) of the liver caused by many forms of liver diseases and conditions, such as hepatitis and chronic alcoholism. The severity of cirrhosis can impair the liver’s vital functions, including its ability to filter toxins from the blood.

Riddle’s health struggles were marked by these complications, and despite medical efforts, he ultimately passed away in 1985. His cremated remains find their resting place at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California, within the Hall of David Mausoleum.
