Despite being cast as a hard-working father in a struggling African-American family, Amos, at 34, openly expressed dissatisfaction with the show’s portrayal of the African-American experience. This clash led to his departure from the series after the third season.
His acting journey continued with diverse roles in TV shows such as “Hunter,” “The West Wing,” and “Men in Trees.” Amos became a familiar face on both the big and small screens, earning nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and an NAACP Image Award.
