Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter are good friends in real life. They have been working together for over 28 years, and their friendship has only grown stronger over time.

Andy Richter and Conan O’Brien first met in 1993 when Richter was hired as a writer for Late Night with Conan O’Brien ¹. Richter quickly became a fan favorite and was soon promoted to the role of sidekick.
Andy Richter continued to work with O’Brien on each of his talk shows: Late Night and The Tonight Show on NBC and Conan on TBS.

In addition to their professional relationship, Richter and O’Brien are also close friends outside of work. They have been known to hang out together and have even gone on vacations together.
Andy Richter was raised in Yorkville, Illinois, and graduated from Yorkville High School in 1984, where he was elected Prom King. Richter played for the American League as a first baseman in the 2009 Taco Bell All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game.
Andy Richter wrote for the short-lived Jonathan Brandmeier television show. In May 2021, Richter appeared on the Gus and Eddy Podcast hosted by comedy duo Gus Johnson and Eddy Burback.
