The Investigation and Presumed Suicide:

Police in the capital Seoul confirmed on Wednesday that they had received a missing person report from Lee’s manager, leading to the discovery of the actor in his car. The cause of death is currently “presumed to be suicide,” as stated by the police. The scene, as depicted in photos from Wednesday, shows forensic personnel examining the car, cordoned off by police tape.

Allegations of Illegal Drug Use:

Lee Sun-kyun had been under investigation by police in the city of Incheon for alleged illegal drug use. Authorities confirmed that he had been questioned three times since October, with the most recent summons on December 23. Lee had spent 19 hours in police custody before being released the following day. Despite multiple drug tests conducted during the investigation, all results came back negative, according to Incheon police.

The Blackmail Allegation:

During the investigation, Lee Sun-kyun claimed that he was deceived into using drugs and subsequently blackmailed by an unidentified individual. In response, the actor filed a lawsuit against the alleged blackmailer. The police revealed that they had received a tip about Lee’s alleged drug use before him filing the lawsuit. One man and one woman have been arrested in connection with the ongoing drug investigation.
