Matthew Kelly Parents: Meet Ron Kelly & Olive Kelly

Matthew Kelly is the son of Ron Kelly and Olive Kelly. There isn’t much information about his parents on the internet as he likes to keep his personal life away from the limelight.

Kelly’s first major television appearances came in the early 1980s with the ITV sitcom Holding the Fort (1980-82) and as a panelist on the game show Punchlines (1981-84). However, it was his role as part of the original presenting team on Game for a Laugh that thrust him into the limelight, showcasing his talent for comedic timing and affable on-screen presence.

The launch of Children’s ITV (CITV) in January 1983 saw Kelly as its original presenter, adding another feather to his cap. His popularity continued to soar, leading to his surprise feature on This Is Your Life in 1983, a testament to his widespread recognition and impact on the entertainment scene.

For over a decade, Kelly’s focus remained on light entertainment shows like Kelly’s Eye (1985), You Bet! (1991–95), and the iconic Stars in Their Eyes. Taking over from Russ Abbot in the latter, Kelly became the permanent host, solidifying his status as a household name.
