Carol Thatcher’s journalism career kicked off in Australia, working for the Sydney Morning Herald from 1977 to 1979. She transitioned to television reporting at Channel Seven in Sydney, eventually becoming a reporter on its morning news show, 11 AM. Upon returning to Britain, she navigated the media landscape, working as a presenter for LBC, BBC Radio 4, and TV-am. Despite these challenges, Carol authored her first book, “Diary of an Election: with Margaret Thatcher on the campaign trail,” in 1983. Her collaboration with tennis player Chris Evert Lloyd on “Lloyd on Lloyd” marked her first best-seller. In 1996, she published a best-selling biography of her father, titled “Below the Parapet.”
In 2009, controversy arose during her stint on the BBC One magazine program “The One Show.” Carol Thatcher faced criticism for allegedly making racially insensitive remarks about tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The incident resulted in her exit from the show.
