Selma Archerd, the actress known for her roles in “Die Hard” and “Melrose Place,” has passed away at the age of 98. She was the wife of the renowned Variety columnist Army Archerd. Her death occurred on December 14 in Los Angeles, as reported on Legacy.com via the Los Angeles Times’ website. Described by her family as a “devoted mother and grandmother,” Selma Archerd passed away peacefully.

Selma gained recognition for her role as a hostage in the 1988 film “Die Hard” starring Bruce Willis. Additionally, she portrayed Nurse Amy in 25 episodes of the Fox soap opera “Melrose Place” from 1995 to 1999.

Throughout the 1970s to the 1990s, Selma Archerd made cameo appearances in various films and TV shows, including “Lethal Weapon,” “Lethal Weapon 3,” “The Brady Bunch,” and “Serpico.” Her filmography also includes notable works such as “Scrooged,” “W.C. Fields and Me,” “Mommie Dearest,” and “Harry and Walter Go to New York.”

Selma and her late husband, Army Archerd, appeared as themselves on “The Love Boat” and participated in the game show “Tattletales.” Army Archerd, a columnist for Variety for over 50 years, retired his “Just for Variety” column in 2005. Selma, who married Army a month after finalizing her divorce, expressed pride in her husband’s achievements, emphasizing her fierce dedication to preserving his legacy. The couple first met when she was 16 and he was 19, reconnecting 28 years later. Army Archerd passed away in 2009.
