Lane’s father Rob Hutson, born on April 9, 1972, in western Canada, is a seasoned hockey veteran with a rich history in the sport.
Rob’s journey in hockey took him through the ECHL, Western Professional Hockey League, Colonial Hockey League, and United Hockey League.
As a player, Rob showcased his skills in NCAA hockey for the University of Illinois-Chicago during the 1990s. Initially drafted by the Detroit Red Wings, he spent eight years navigating the minor league hockey circuit before his retirement in 1999.

Notably, Rob was a key part of the Muskegon Fury, contributing to their Colonial Cup championship win in the 2001-02 season.

Currently serving as an assistant coach for the North Jersey Avalanche 16U AAA, Rob’s expertise extends beyond the rink. He has worked as a video scout for the Arizona Coyotes and has also taken on coaching roles for Team Illinois and Barrington High School’s varsity team.
Julie Hutson, the mother of Lane Hutson, brings her own athletic prowess to the family. An elite gymnast who earned a spot on the U.S. junior Olympic team, Julie’s background adds a unique perspective to the Hutson household.
