What Happened to Helen Rollason?

The cancer eventually metastasized to her liver and lungs. Helen Rollason fought a valiant two-year battle against the disease, undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy, holistic therapies, and dietary changes.

She continued to contribute to sports broadcasting, raising awareness for disability sports and altering public perception. In October 1998, the BBC aired a special documentary titled “Hope for Helen,” chronicling her treatment and earning her widespread support.

Helen Rollason passed away on 9 August 1999, at the age of 43, in Brentwood, Essex. Her legacy endures through her significant contributions to sports journalism, charity work, and the lasting impact of the cancer wing at North Middlesex Hospital named in her honor.
