The latter part of the 2014–15 season saw Cotton with the Utah Jazz, marking the beginning of his NBA journey. In January 2017, he made a significant move to Australia, joining the Perth Wildcats.

This decision proved pivotal, as two months later, Cotton’s prowess led the Wildcats to the NBL championship, earning him the Grand Final MVP title.

His tenure with the Wildcats continued to flourish, with Cotton winning the NBL Most Valuable Player Award in the 2017–18 season.

Adding to his accolades, he secured his second and third NBL championships in 2019 and 2020, clinching the NBL MVP and Grand Final MVP for the second time in 2020.

Remarkably, Cotton secured his third NBL MVP in 2021, solidifying his status as a basketball powerhouse across the globe, from the Austin Spurs to the Perth Wildcats and beyond.
