Born in 1981 in Sri Lanka, Karina Carvalho’s early years were shaped by a family deeply rooted in entrepreneurship. Despite choosing to keep her parents’ names private, Carvalho has shared glimpses of her family’s history.
Tragically, during the Colombo riots of 1983, her family’s longstanding business, passed down through generations, fell victim to the violence of the country’s civil war. In the aftermath, seeking refuge from the turmoil, the Carvalho family embarked on a courageous journey to Australia, leaving behind the remnants of their heritage to start anew.
Karina’s resilience and determination were evident from the outset. After arriving in Australia, she pursued education at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, majoring in Journalism.
