Kerr signed Gervin to a $40,000-a-year contract with the Squires in January 1973.

George Gervin has designed groups for impoverished youngsters and has been involved in the San Antonio community ever since he retired from professional basketball. The George Gervin Youth Center was founded by him in 1991.
