Larry David didn’t hold back when confronting Elon Musk over his Republican Party support during Endeavor chief Ari Emanuel’s wedding last year, as detailed in Walter Isaacson’s latest biography on the tech magnate.

Reportedly, at the lavish event in France, where Emanuel tied the knot with fashion designer Sarah Staudinger, David approached Musk with a pointed question: “Do you just want to murder kids in schools?” The Seinfeld co-creator and comedian continued his line of inquiry, expressing concern about Musk’s Republican affiliation, to which Musk responded, “No, no … I’m anti-kid murder.”

Persisting in his interrogation, David asked, “Then how could you vote Republican?”
As an Emanuel client who officiated the wedding, David later confirmed the incident to Isaacson, the biographer. He explained, “His tweets about voting Republican because Democrats were the party of division and hate were sticking in my craw. Even if Uvalde never happened, I probably would have brought it up because I was angry and offended.” Isaacson noted that David, seated at a table with Musk, appeared visibly upset during the conversation.

Adding a layer of amusement to the situation, MSNBC Morning Joe co-anchor Joe Scarborough, also a guest at the wedding, had been informed by David about the confrontation. Scarborough reportedly found the exchange quite amusing.
Isaacson’s Elon Musk biography, published by Simon & Schuster, has quickly climbed to the top of Amazon’s nonfiction charts within its first week. The 688-page book delves into Musk’s upbringing in South Africa, his family background with engineer father Errol Musk and dietician mother Maye Musk, and his subsequent global success in the tech industry.
The biography, a result of two years spent shadowing Musk, attending meetings, touring factories, and conducting extensive interviews, captures the multifaceted life of the 52-year-old entrepreneur. Musk’s recent acquisition of Twitter for $44 billion in April 2022, followed by a rebranding to X, is also covered in the biography.
As of now, representatives for Larry David and Elon Musk have not responded to The Hollywood Reporter’s request for comment.
