When Braun declared his intention to run for president of Poland in 2015, his political career officially began. His “God Bless You!” campaign group was founded, but it only garnered a small portion of the vote.
He supports conservative Catholicism and Polish ultranationalism and has anti-American, anti-Ukrainian, anti-Protestant, anti-LGBT, antisemitic, and pro-Russian views.
He put out a Hanukkah menorah with a fire extinguisher on December 12, 2023, at the inaugural session of the 10th term of Sejm, declaring, “The people participating in the Satanic cult should be ashamed.”

Why did Grzegorz Braun put out Hakunah candles?
Far-right Polish lawmaker Grzegorz Braun of the Confederation Party took a fire extinguisher and put out the Hanukkah candles that had just been lit inside the Polish parliament building, subsequently covering bystanders in the powder that was discharged from the extinguisher and causing security guards to rush people out of the area.
“Those who take part in acts of Satanic worship should be ashamed,” the Polish Member of Parliament responded when asked how he could do such a thing and if he felt ashamed.
