In about three hours, jurors returned guilty verdicts. He faced life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder.

Leon Circuit Judge Stephen Everett imposed the sentence after hearing victim impact testimonies from Markel’s family.

His punishment occurred less than 24 hours after his mother, Donna Adelson, pleaded not guilty in the Markel murder at her arraignment before Everett.

Was Charlie Adelson sentenced?

Charlie Adelson, a Florida man convicted in connection to the 2014 murder of his former brother-in-law, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

In a Tallahassee courtroom on Tuesday, the 47-year-old stated, “I would just like to say that I maintain my innocence.”

Adelson was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation on Nov. 6 after an eight-day trial at the Leon County Courthouse
