American attorney Craig Marcus Watkins served as Dallas County, Texas’s district attorney from 2007 until 2015. When he was elected in 2006, he became the first African-American district attorney in Texas history.

Before entering private practice, Watkins worked as an attorney in the Dallas County Public Defender’s and City Attorney’s offices.
Memberships in the National Trial Lawyers Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association were held by Watkins.
Three children were born to Watkins and Tanya. On December 12, 2023, he passed away at the age of 56 at his Dallas home.
