However, personal challenges emerged in 1976, leading to a temporary downturn in her career, marked by only two minor film roles.

In 1996, a tragic chapter unfolded as Moore battled lung cancer, facing the illness with unwavering courage, stemming from her years as a longtime smoker.

On November 22, 1997, Moore succumbed to the disease at the age of 63, just twelve days after celebrating her birthday.

While Moore found her initial resting place at Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands, California, her family later decided to relocate her remains to Oak Grove Cemetery in her hometown of Americus, Georgia.
