His son, Patrick O’Neal, a Los Angeles sportscaster, shared the news of his father’s passing on Instagram, expressing that Ryan departed peacefully with his support team by his side.

While Patrick fondly remembered his father as a Hollywood legend and his personal hero, the announcement did not disclose the specific cause of Ryan O’Neal’s death. Attempts to reach O’Neal’s representatives for further details were initially unsuccessful.

Ryan O’Neal’s health journey had faced challenges in the past. In 2001, he was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), marking the beginning of his battle against this form of blood cancer. Subsequently, in April 2012, O’Neal revealed another health setback, disclosing a diagnosis of stage 4 prostate cancer. However, he later clarified that it was stage 2.
