Michael Timothy Shildt, the accomplished American professional baseball manager currently at the helm of the San Diego Padres in Major League Baseball, has deep roots in the sport that trace back to his childhood.

Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Shildt’s journey into the world of baseball was influenced by his mother, Elizabeth “Lib” Shildt.

Growing up in a baseball environment, Shildt accompanied his mother to her job with the Charlotte O’s, the Double-A affiliate of the Orioles.
