His father, John, fought during the World War I, World War II, and Korea. He retired from the army in the 1964.

Both parents founded a construction company and developed real estate.

They had another daughter called Yvonne.

Pool, who passed away on November 22, 2023, at the age of 70 due to early-onset Alzheimer’s, left a great legacy behind.

His journey in broadcasting began in 1977 when he started covering sports for KOMO-TV in Seattle. Over the years, his career trajectory soared, and he eventually assumed the role of the principal weather anchor for the station—a position he held with distinction from 1984 to 2019.

During the 1980s, Pool diversified his portfolio by hosting the program “Front Runners” on KOMO-TV, a Saturday favorite for many viewers. In the 1990s, he extended his reach to children as the host of the Direct-to-video series “Little Steps.”

Pool’s meteorological expertise garnered him eight Emmy Awards, showcasing the depth of his contributions to the field.

His presence was not confined to local broadcasts; he made over 70 appearances on the national stage, gracing the set of Good Morning America.

Beyond the screen, Steve Pool was a man of words, authoring a book titled “Somewhere, I Was Right,” which delved into the intricacies of weather and forecasting.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was inducted into the University of Washington Department of Communications Hall of Fame in 2004.

Pool’s legacy extends beyond his professional achievements. In November 2019, after successfully battling prostate cancer, he announced his retirement from broadcasting, marking the end of a remarkable career that touched the lives of many.
